Background

Based in Montreal, Orchestre symphonique de l'Isle is a high calibre musical ensemble made up of more than seventy musicians.  The orchestra presents three programs per season since 2001 and has established an excellent reputation amid the best community ensembles in Canada. Musicians come from diverse backgrounds, including semi-professionals players as well as future professionals.

Founded in 2001 by Dominique Piotte, OSI has been under the artistic direction of Stewart Grant (2001-2002) and Daniel Myssyk (2002-2004).

Under the direction of the young dynamic Cristian Gort since 2004, OSI's musicians and administrative committee (made up of orchestra members) invest their time and effort to help produce high-quality concerts in a harmonious environment.

Throughout the years, OSI took part in projects involving several organisations:  Festivalissimo, for Passion en rouge et noir concerts; Suzuki Musique Montréal, by holding concerto competitions for promising young musicians.  Recently, the orchestra consolidated a partnership with Concordia University developing various projects involving members from the Music Department and Oscar Peterson Hall.  Other activities are in the works for future concerts.
